Pack 246 from Hillside Elementary in Brookfield, WI.
Pack Yell to get into the mess hall on Saturday Night.
The boys were amazing. I have never been more proud. (haha.)

Life is good.
The boy didn't win any speed awards - but he did manage to walk away with the "Best Theme Design" for his "Black Pearl" pinewood car.
Additionally - I took home the gold for the fastest Dad.
The bar has been set for next year.

Mitt or Mittout
OK - so I'm playing Sorry® with my son tonight.
Still irritated about McCain doing so well in Florida, I figured I should put on the GOP Debate, to see if I can actually bring myself to vote for Romney.
My son - who is 8 - looks at me and says, "Hey Dad - Who's that guy?"
I reply, "That's Mitt Romney."
He says, and I'm NOT making this up, "Wow. He's really handsome. Are you sure that's not Ken?"
"Ken? What do you mean?"
"You know, Ken. Barbie's boyfriend."
WOW. He's right. Totally.

working for the weekend...
SO - it's Friday night - and as always - I'm Mr. Mom. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining in the least. It's a statement of fact.
Friday nights, I have my son - and my ex goes out. Saturday nights, she has said son, and I go out. It's the delicate balance in my little universe. :)
This weekend is going to be my busiest in a LONG time. I'm actually already dreading work on Monday.
Tomorrow, Jennifer and her daughter, and me and my son are going to see "Walking With The Dinosaurs." It should be completely amazing. My boss took his Grandchild to it this afternoon, and was just floored at the spectacle. I was floored that he took a Friday off.
After that - the children will be dropped off at their OTHER parents' homes, and Jen and I will attempt to get some dinner, and hopefully grab a drink with my best friend. He turns 37 tomorrow.
Sunday, we're heading up to the (almost literally) Frozen Tundra® of Lambeau Field© to see the Packers take on the Raiders.
Tailgating beforehand is of course, a necessity.
Blog pics to come whilst the merriment ensues.

We're getting the band back together
It's like Guitar Hero, but with a guitar, drums, and a microphone.
This is gonna be awesome.
I don't think I can wait until Christmas to give this to the boy.

Impressive
My ex and I share custody and placement of our 8-year old son. For the uninformed, that means together, we make decisions for him. It also means he has two homes. Two rooms. Two separate sets of "stuff."
He spends every Wednesday night through Saturday afternoon with me at my place, and then Saturday nights through Wednesday mornings by his Mom. It's consistent - which is the best thing, in my opinion, for any child. Consistency.
Is it an ideal situation? Probably not, but it is what it is, and we make it work.
I HATE people in my situation who refer to themselves a a "single-parent." Get over yourself. You're not.
At the most - you're a PART-TIME single parent.
So anyway - my ex left for Boston last Friday. She returned late last night. (Thursday) I've had my son since then.
Alone.
By myself.
Flying solo.
I've never complained about taking care of my son - I'm supposed to. (Think: Chris Rock) I'd gladly take him more. This year, my ex's schedule has been such that I've had a LOT more time with my son than was "officially" laid out in our divorce decree.
It's awesome. I love it. Can't get enough of it.
Is it fun? Hell yes.
Is it easy? Hell NO!
My admiration goes out to real single parents.
Much respect.
